I came across something once that said after death the soul departs. Only the physical body is left. The soul moves away and is then Reborn. A new life with everything about the last one swept clean. The soul forgets this life and evolves into a new one.
Then why do we say we are watched by departed souls??? Who watches over us if they dont even have us in their memories??? And if the souls are rebron then what is left to watch over us??

Why do we say things that contradict?? For comfort? Relief?
What?????
